Dr. Schreiner was born in Germany and got a M.A. degree at Columbia University, NYC and her Ph.D.at the University of Cologne. She used to be a news reporter of ZDF – GermanTelevision, reporter and anchor woman for RIAS and a foreign correspondent inWashington, D.C. In her current position as Chief of Culture and Sciences inone of the most important public TV stations in Germany, MDR/ARD, she isresponsible for over 200 hundred new documentaries, reportages and magazinesevery year, all dealing with significant issues of our modern life, whether inGermany, in Europe or in the world. She is one of the leading driving forceswithin the „input“ organisation, a non-for profit worldwide think tank andpermanent Forum composed of more than 50 public televisions across the world,aiming to improve the quality of television programming across all genres.
Many of the programs she initiated, oversaw orproduced have won awards in national and international festivals. To name a fewof the recent ones: <Putin’s Games> (2013) which earned the prestigious“Oscar” of German TV in that year, <The World’s Most DangerousWay to School> (2013), Best Documentary Feature Cinema Festival LosAngeles, USA, <The Decent One> (2014), Best Documentary Jerusalem FilmFestival, <Night Will Fall> (2014), Best Documentary “Oscar” of that yearin the United Kingdom.
