The 44^th Hong KongInternational Film Festival Announces Competition Winners

The 13 winners announced today by the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society (HKIFFS) include The Painter and theThief, which won the Firebird Award for Documentary. Earlier this year, due to the pandemic HKIFFS confirmed that this year’s Firebird Awards competitionswill be proceed with online judging.

ZhengLu Xinyuan’s The Cloud In Her Room and Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese’s This Is Not A Burial, It’s A Resurrection were named as the best films at this year’s Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF). Both films also won best actress in their respective sections – Jin Jing for The Cloud In Her Room in the Young Cinema Competition, and Mary Twala Mhlongo in the Young Cinema Competition (World) for This Is Not A Burial, It’s A Resurrection. Liang Ming’s Wisdom Tooth won best directing and bestacting (Wu Xiaoliang) in the Young Cinema Competition.

The 15th Changchun Film Festivalscreening section announced more than 100 films from all over the world

The15th China Changchun Film Festival will take place from Sept 5 to 10 in Changchun.

Asan important part of the festival, the screening section will last from Sept 4 to 15.

The classic film restoration section draws the most attentions. The “A Century of Classic 4K Restoration" slot will include the 1920 black and white silent film Outlaws (1920), and Alfred DeHitchcock's Rebecca (1940), Billy Wild's Sunset Blvd. (1950), The Apartment (1960) and Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas (1990), etc. Asa part of the festival "Master Class" program, director Xie Fei will celebrate the 30th anniversary of 's BlackSnow (1990) Berlin Film Festival Premiere. As one of the most famous directorsin China, Xie Fei will visit Changchun this time, providing movie fans with a good opportunity to review his masterpiece.
