It has been 13 years since GZDOC introduced the first pitch session to China, in which innovative projects and pitches are presented to international documentary filmmakers, professionals, distributors, and buyers in Guangzhou every year. It is now the most comprehensive platform in China for developing projects to seek for funds, supports, and industry consultation. China’s Van Goghs (2016) is one of the most successful projects that have been presented in the festival, which obtained financial support and distribution channels after being presented in the pitch session.

‘China Story International Pitching Session', as part of GZDOC, is recruiting creative stories about China to facilitate co-production documentary projects. The deadline for submission is 20^th September 2018.

20 pitches will be selected to our finalists and be invited to pitch to GZDOC-appointed decision makers. Winners will not only be awarded 50,000 RMB, but also gain financial support from GZDOC’s partner, including Flaherty Project with 200 million RMB founds, Jinmian Documentary Investment Foundation with 20 million funds, and Tencent.
