With more than 20 years of documentary production experience, Gong Wei's works have won many awards home and abroad, including the Documentary Award from FIPA in France, ABU Documentary Award, the Rainbow Award and the Golden Eagle Award, the U.S. Peabody Award, the Documentary Award at the Shanghai Television Festival and etc. He participated in the development and production of documentaries such as , , , , , etc. In 2007, he was selected as one of the Shanghai TV Artists with Outstanding Art Achievement and Strong Moral Integrity by CTAA. He is also the chief producer of blue-chip documentaries, including , , , , , etc.
