Marita Huebinger studied German Literature, Bibliology and Comparative Linguistics from 1978 to 1985. From 1985 on she has been working for ZDF, Hessischer Rundfunk, Südwestfunk, 3sat and ARTE. Her main focus are cultural and scientific topics. She was responsible for e.g.: /3sat, /ZDF, /ZDF. Since 1st of May 2011 she is Senior Commissioning Editor for Science and Head of Department Wissen/ARTE. ARTE is a European public-service cultural television channel as a German-French joint venture. It is composed of three entities: the headquarters in Strasbourg and two Members responsible for programme production and delivery, which are ARTE France in Paris and ARTE Deutschland TV GmbH with ARD and ZDF as partner. The ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen / "Second German Television”) is based in Mainz and provides half of the ARTE programmes provided by the German Member. The science department of the ZDF/ARTE supplies programmes for single and series documentary slots aired on ARTE on science, discovery, ancient history and factual doc series among others.
