Stephen Oliver is currently the Manager of Documentaries at Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). After studying anthropology at university, Stephen Oliver’s first TV job involved heading deep into the West African jungle to observe and record the lifestyles of locals. In the intervening couple of decades, he made not only entertaining comedic docs about popular culture, but also hard-hitting and in-depth works focusing on social issues such as climate and environment protecting.

Stephen introduced impact campaigns to the ABC, with notable success. For instance, two series of War On Waste encourage audience to think over their own consumption behaviours. Similarly, Fight for Planet A: Our Climate Challenge and Big Weather (and How To Survive It) explores how we can all be part of reducing our carbon emissions thrive in an era of increasing extreme weather events.
