Aboozar Amini (Bamiyan, Afghansitan), studied fine arts in Amsterdam at the Rietveld Art Academy and filmmaking in London at London Film School. The mixture of both conceptual arts and classic cinema has opened a dynamic and engaging landscape in Aboozar’s visual way of storytelling. His short film (KabulTehranKabul) won the Dutch WildCard Award in 2010 and his graduation film from London, (Angelus Novus) (2015) premièred at International Film Festival Rotterdam wining various awards worldwide. His latest short film (Best Day Ever) (2018) premiered at La Quinzaine at Cannes Film Festival 2018 as part of the Tunisia Factory. Aboozar’s work shows a realism language of cinema which was his major study field for his master dissertation in London as well. (Kabul, City in the Wind) is his first full-length documentary which was the opening film of IDFA 2018 and has won the special jury award and shortlisted for IDA (2019) DocAward. Aboozar is developing his first feature film (Ways to Run) which has been developed at Cannes Cinefondation Residence 2019.
