With research at 130+ villages in 9 cities, filming at 53 villages over 10 months, and interviews of 42 First Secretaries, 206 impoverished residents, and 200+ villagers and leaders, it’s an epic documentary of Guangdong’s poverty elimination push since 2016.

Zhidan Ma, a Chinese director, led the production of over 600 documentaries on newsmaking figures, with great insight, genuine sensitivity, skillful yet natural techniques and creativity in filming and editing.
