Yang Lina is a self-taught documentary filmmaker who is a pioneer in the field of Chinese independent documentary film. Yang was a director, a scriptwriter, a documentary producer, served multiple times as a reviewer for domestic and foreign film festivals. Yang stage host and acted in Jia Zhangke’s Platform (2000). Her debut documentary, Old Men (1999) won a number of awards including the Award of Excellence at Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival, the Jury Prize at Cinéma du Reel, and the Golden Dove Award at DOK Leipzig. Documentary films such as Home Video(2002), Let’s dance together(2007),The Love story of Lao An(2008),My Neighbors & Their Japanese Ghosts(2008) and Wild Grass(2009) have participated in multiple overseas film exhibitions. The representative work of a drama film, the Women's Trilogy, Longing for the Rain(2013), Spring Tide(2018), Song of Spring(2022).
